BIRMINGHAM-based charity shopping website www.easyfundraising.org.uk has been honoured in the 2007 Currys Awards, winning the title of Best Performing Charity Website and beating off strong competition from several other charity sites to secure the award.
Featuring 5 categories, the Currys Awards are held annually to recognise the achievements of sites operating within Currys affiliate network.
easyfundraising was chosen as the winner due to its significant success in driving sales in the Christmas 2007 trading period, with an increase of over 80% month on month.
easyfundraising provides charities and good causes with a constant source of valuable fundraising income.
Supporters generate a free donation for their chosen cause simply by using the links provided on the site when they shop online.
Supporters can shop with over 500 popular retailers such as Currys, PC World, Dixons, M&S, Amazon, NEXT, Boots, eBay, Dell, Woolworths, Direct Line, Screwfix, Interflora, Staples, Expedia and many more.
So far more than £350,000 has been generated for UK good causes by users of easyfundraising since the sites launch in 2006, including £80,000 since January 2008 alone.
Becky Coleman, spokesman for easyfundraising, said "We're thrilled to have won this award. The team work extremely hard to ensure that easyfundraising offers the very best fundraising potential for the organisations that use us, including coming up with ways to maximise sales, so it is really pleasing to be recognised for our achievements.
Any increase in sales indicates that our organisations are benefiting from an increase in the amount of funds raised, which is good news for everyone.
