Birmingham couple Katie and Ed Beever takes up Cancer Research triathlon challenge

Katie and Ed Beever

BIRMINGHAM barrister Ed Beever and wife Katie faced the challenge of a lifetime to compete in the Blenheim Triathlon.

Ed, aged 41, is usually seen in a wig and gown in court but on June 7 they donned a wet suit to swim half a mile, bike 12 miles and run three miles to raise money for Cancer Research.

"I was not a strong swimmer before this," says Ed. "I have had swimming lessons and swum almost every day in my local pool to be able to swim this far. For the cycling I train in a gym near work and when I get home, Katie my wife sets off on her bike training. The swim is definitely the most daunting part for me. Apparently the lake is not only cold but muddy too. We must be mad!

The hard work will all be worthwhile for Ed and Katie if they succeed in raising £3,000 for Cancer Research.

"We have friends and family that have suffered from cancer and we hope that we can raise as much as possible so that Cancer Research can invest in ways of beating this awful disease", says Katie.

You can sponsor Katie and Ed by visiting their online fundraising page on www.justgiving.com/katieandedbeever. Where supporters are UK taxpayers, the charity will automatically receive 28% extra in Gift Aid, which makes Justgiving the most efficient way of sponsoring Katie and Ed.
