Meadow Park FC Under 10's became Champions of the Alcester Football Tournament over the weekend. Based upon the UEFA Euro 2008 Tournament - each team were drawn teams & Meadow Park was drawn out as Spain. All 6 teams played in 1 league and it was the top 2 who ventured into the Final. Meadow Park played 5 games and needed to win their last game to stick a chance. Bromsgrove Town (drawn England) won all 5 games to top the league but if Alcester coud'nt get 3 points from their last game & Meadows won - it would be Meadow Park v Bromsgrove Town. All 10 players had already played Bromsgrove Town prior and lost narrowlly 1-0, so when they played them in the Final they had to do better. A first half move & pass by Daniel McArdle allowed Rory Douglas to score from just inside the box,and this proved to be the only goal. Although Bromsgrove gave everything they had Meadow Park held out and won the Tournament. Read
