Three Brunettes in charity bike challenge

THREE colleagues at the Royal Bank of Scotland in Birmingham are busy raising money before they undertake a 396km-bike ride in Nepal.

The Three brunettes on a Bike, as they are now referred to, are to cycle around the Himalayas in l1 days all in the name of charity, Mencap.

Helen McMenamin, Ruth Davies and Amandeep Hyare are holding a number of events to raise funds for their trip to the birthplace of the Buddha and home of the Gurkhas.

Ruth Davies, who has already participated in a Mencap cycle ride in 2005, challenged Aman and Helen to join her in a more physically demanding bike ride in Nepal.

Nepal which is situated between China and India is only the size of Austria yet if its deep folds were to be stretched out it would be equal to the size of the United States.

Despite work and family commitments they aim to raise £10,000 between them. They are not only reliant on the generosity of family, friends and the local community to sponsor them, but also others that can donate money on their web site, as seen below

They are also organising fundraising events. The next is the Mencap Masquerade Ball on August 1 at the McDonald Burlington Hotel. The dress code is black tie but to add a bit of fun you need to also wear a mask!

Tickets priced at £37.50, tables of 12 cost £450.
