Darryl Foster takes a great European tour

Darryl Foster and his 1978 VW Golf.

BIRMINGHAM man Darryl Foster is hitting the roads of Europe in classic car style.

Darryl, of Erdington, will be driving his 1978 Volkswagen Golf Mk1 though France, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany following the same routes as featured in BBC's Top Gear Greatest Driving Roads programme.

Darryl said: "We'll be driving down through the south of France for the Col De Turini, into Monte Carlo. Driving along the Italian Riviera, we'll then head north to Switzerland for the San Bernardino Pass. Then we will head away from Davos to Stelvio via Bormio, and en route to Stelvio via Bormio we'll cross the Stevio Pass.

"After that the plan is to head further north into Germany for the Nurburgring racetrack. All in all it will be a 3,000 mile round trip. I've gone through loads of problems with the car to make sure it'll make the journey and now it's actually happening I can't wait."
