Sutton Organ Society in folding fear

SUTTON Organ Society celebrates its 20th anniversary Sutton Coldfield but is in danger of closing through lack of support and due to the demise of some of its older members.

Society president Mary Green said it was the only Organ Society operating in Birmingham and it would be a bitter blow if it had to fold.

She said: "We are a very friendly society. Some of our founder members and the International and National Guest Organists who play for us each month love to come to Sutton Coldfield where with their skilfull playing and ad libs and jokes creates a wonderful atmosphere which members and visitors enjoy.

"We have now to find out whether we will be able to carry on with votes from our existing members -some 68 in all or whether we will be forced to close down after our December meeting.

"We are certainly not a fuddy duddy organ Society. All our visitors are warmly welcomed and after every evenings concert our members leave the hall saying how much they have enjoyed the show and please can we invite the organist back again."

The society meets on the first Tuesday in the month at 7.30pm For more details contact Mary at marygreen@blueyonder.co.uk
