Your Heroes: Harry was a hero for helping others

Harry Moseley's sister Danielle gets his award BRMB's Tom Ross.

A BRAVE youngster who died last month after a four-year battle with an inoperable brain tumour has been named one of the Birmingham Mail’s Local Heroes.

While he was alive, selfless Harry Moseley raised more than £500,000 for cancer charities by making and selling bracelets in shops and through his website www.helpharryhelpothers.com, as well as giving talks about his illness.

His dad Darren, sister Danielle, aged 17, and brother Louie, aged 14, of Sheldon, attended the awards ceremony, held at The Novotel in the city centre’s Broad Street, to pick up the gong in his memory.

Tom Ross, of Birmingham-based radio station BRMB, presented the award to Danielle.

Trying to fight back tears, Danielle added: “If Harry was here today he would say something comical, he always saw the funny side of life.

“His motto was to go and make life happen, and that’s what he did.

“Words can’t describe what my family are feeling now, but Harry always wanted Birmingham to back him. When we found out about this award he was in a coma but I know he heard us tell him that his city was honouring him.

“Now we just ask people to continue supporting his campaign to raise more money to help others, just as Harry would have wanted.”

Tom added: “I met Harry a while ago and he changed my life.
