HAVING just seen his son lying dead on a Birmingham road, Tariq Jahan would have been forgiven for crumbling into an hysterical mess.
But instead the 45-year-old van driver put his own grief aside to work for the greater good of the community.
In fact, Tariq has been credited with stopping the riots, which swept through the city and across Britain during the summer.
He directly appealed to the rioters to end their looting and violence just hours after his cherished son Haroon was killed along with his two friends as they protected their community.
Tariq, of Winson Green, has been named one of the Birmingham Mail’s Local Heroes, as well as recently receiving a “special recognition” award at the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards.
