HIS face stares out from a different time. And yet Bryan Wallace Mills remains a mystery.

Mary Fisher discovered the photograph when she was sorting out her mother’s belongings at her mum’s Birmingham home after her death.

She explained: “As I appear to be the guardian of our family history, all the family photographs came to me when Mum passed away.

“One of these photographs was a framed studio portrait of my grandparents.

“When I took the picture out of the frame to see if it was dated, I found the picture hidden in the frame.

“On the back of the picture is written ‘Mr Mills son’ and then at a later date somebody has written ‘killed in Sicily’.

“As far as I’m aware my family has no connection with this man so curiosity drove me to do some research.

“Mr Mills is very much a mystery man and I think that this photograph should be with his descendants if they can be found.”
