Two men had a lucky escape when a livestock lorry careered off the motorway and down an embankment on the M6.The HGV vehicle collided with a motorway sign and several trees during the incident, which happened on the northbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 4a, at Coleshill, Warwickshire, just after 7am today.The jack-knifed lorry came to rest against some trees after going down an embankment.Commuters faced rush-hour queues after one lane of the northbound motorway was closed while recovery work was carried out.West Midlands Ambulance Service said two men travelling in the cab at the time of the crash escaped serious injury.The driver, a man estimated to be in his 50s, had a minor leg injury.He was treated at the scene by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment, and a male passenger, believed to be in his 40s, was unhurt. No animals were onboard at the time of the incident.A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said: “It is fortunate indeed that there were no livestock being carried at the time otherwise the situation could have been considerably more difficult.”
