Kanye tops festival bill

Kanye West

SUMMER is upon us and with it comes festival season for the legions of Brum clubbers who will be heading to this year's Global Gathering.

More than 55,000 of us will be taking the trip over to Long Marston Airfield in Stratford Upon Avon to see the 120-plus acts which will make up this year's event.

Top of the bill is hip-hop supremo and DJ Kanye West, who will transform the main stage into his Glow in the Dark show.

He will be joined by Moby, Brit award winner Mark Ronson and electronica star Roisin Murphy. Other top acts will include Friction, The Freestylers, Judge Jules, Lisa Lashes, Andy C, Armin Van Bururen and Erick Morillo.

On top of that, top club brands which will be bringing their unique style to the Midlands include Bedrock, Polysexual, Global, Random Concept and Mixmag.

The festival site, which will cover the area of 50 football pitches, will play host to the biggest marquee tent in Europe, giving up to 15,000-plus clubbers the chance to pack in.

But the festival is a far cry from the mud-fields of Glastonbury as it also gives revellers the chance to enjoy hot showers, an outdoor cinema and - for those who like to live in the lap of luxury while enjoying outdoor music - there is the opportunity to enjoy the Cloud9 VIP area which has boutique accomodation and private washrooms.

* Tickets for the event, which will be held on Friday July 25 and Saturday July 26, can be bought at www.globalgathering.co.uk or by calling the ticket hotline on 0871 789 1010.
