Gina Yashere, Alexandra Theatre

COMEDIENNE Gina Yashere has really let herself go!

In fact, she has let so much of herself go, about four stone, that she is barely recognisable from her appearances on TV shows such as Mock the Week.

Gina is making up for lost time having now settled in Los Angeles following a run on American TV's Last Comic Standing.

She talks about her reasons for going Stateside and said: "As a black entertainer there is only a certain amount of times you can play a stab victim on Holby City."

That's why, she jokes, black comedians are waiting for Dudley-born Lenny Henry to die.

Gina goes into graphic detail how she lost her weight through colonic irrigation in Thailand.

But her typically "in your face" style also sees her dwelling on subjects ranging from her parents' native Nigeria and the state of Zimbabwe to her own overactive immune system.
