The Wigington family have nearly 250 years’ experience in arms and armour collecting dating back to the 18th century.
The armoury’s three galleries specialise in English, European and middle eastern arms and armour.
A huge model of an elephant complete with a howdah dwarfs all visitors.
The main room is full of suits of armour, helmets, swords and model horses.
An adjacent ‘aeronautical gallery’ play barn resembles a small Wacky Warehouse, but there’s an extra charge here.
There are also restaurant facilities available at this brand new, still-developing project, which is part of a DEFRA diversification scheme.
