Goldie Lookin' Chain @ Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton

IT'S a shame GLC were not asked to perform at the Brit Awards - their tongue-in-cheek, innovative style would have made a refreshing change.

Last night the group came on stage urging everyone to be proud of British music before breaking into a two-word expletive non-tribute to Alicia Keys - an anti-American music song they only perform live.

Maggot, fresh from the Big Brother house, seemed relieved to be back with his crew and bandmates, and said he deserved a cheer "for sharing the house with such strange people".

The comedy one-liners came thick and fast through the 75-minute gig and not to be outdone by Madonna, one of the Welsh rappers seeked sympathy for his painful hernia.

But the real entertainment was in the songs, from Your Missus Is A Nutter to U Knows I Love You and the number one hit that started it all off, Guns Don't Kill People, Rappers Do.

The spoof rap has been clever enough to earn the band two respected albums, if they continue to be as entertaining as this live performance, they might end up on the Brits after all.
