ONE of the finest musicians on the folk scene showed his full array of talent to delight an appreciative audience.
Michael McGoldrick won the coveted Best Musician category at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards this year, and it was easy to see why he earned the accolade as he and his talented backing trio served up a high-energy show.
McGoldrick was superb on flute and pipes.
The attendance was disappointing - a combination of the heat and the World Cup. But those folk fans who stayed away missed a real treat.
McGoldrick received wonderful backing from Ed Boyd on guitar, Des Donnelly on violin and Jonjo Kelly on bodhran, and their jigs, reels and airs were all delivered with aplomb.
