Lesley Garrett @ Symphony Hall

LESLEY Garrett's singing range is becoming almost as varied as her wardrobe of colourful outfits.

The ever-popular opera singer is happily turning her vocal attention to anything and everything.

The famed soprano - clearly relishing her slimmer appearance courtesy of Strictly Come Dancing - is also enjoying a more adventurous approach to her music.

As she told her audience: "Good songs are good songs."

Her chosen programme of numbers, all arranged by music director and pianist Tolga Kashif, ranged from opera and film scores to French and Spanish love songs and lullabies.

She particularly impressed with her tribute to French songstress Edith Piaf and on classic film scores such as My Heart Will Go On, and Come What May and One Day I'll Fly Away, both of which featured in the 2001 movie Moulin Rouge.

Her joking, relaxed style was also evident throughout, notably when her pink frock "clashed" with the orange chair on stage, and when she contemplated playing a nun in the forthcoming West End production of The Sound of Music.
