KT Tunstall @ Wolverhampton Civic Hall

SCOTTISH songstress KT Tunstall must hardly be able to believe her amazing rise to stardom.

The cheeky St Andrews singer/songwriter seems to have struck a real chord with a broad mix of the music-loving public with her unique folk/rock blend.

And she and her talented band, who play everything from a cello to a dustbin lid, received a rapturous response at a packed and sweltering Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

When she launched into chart hit Other Side of the World she was greeted with a huge cheer and seeing her live it's clear to see why she stands out from her peers.

As well as being a talented musician, wielding a guitar that seems much too big for her petite frame ("I know it makes me look like a dwarf", she joked) her powerful voice has a lilting, romantic quality as well as a hard rock crackle.

Catchy favourite Suddenly I See was another highlight and features her crowd-pleasing party piece when she downs her guitar and thumps away on the drums.

A mention must be made for support band, the excellent Jim Noir - they sound like The Beatles married The Beach Boys, with great harmonies and jangly guitars.
