Disco Ensemble @ Bar Academy, Birmingham

FINNISH post-hardcore merchants Disco Ensemble may be little known in the UK but their visit to Birmingham showed they are ready for the big time.

The band are on their first UK tour, co-headlining with Brit rockers Brigade.

Having only put out their first single earlier this month, few may have have heard of them - but, believe me, they are an exciting new prospect.

Launching into songs off the album First Aid Kit - set for imminent release over here - the Helsinki boys rocked the tiny Bar Academy to the rafters.

Debut single We Might Fall Apart could well be the one that makes them stars.

But their live show will consolidate any fame which comes their way.

With the modern rock scene clogged up with lame, identikit groups, it's just great to see a band that simply rock out.

Disco Ensemble don't belong to a scene, they are simply a band here to play their way into the headlines.
