The Icicle Works @ Carling Academy Birmingham

IT must be a bit depressing to embark on a 25th anniversary tour and see your gig moved from the main Academy to the smaller Academy 2.

And it must have been annoying for people who were then forced to spill out beyond the stage to a spot where they could hardly see because it was so packed.

Nevertheless, those who were able to catch a glimpse were more than happy to see the Icicle Works back playing live even if the only original member was singer Ian McNabb.

Apparently suffering from throat problems, Ian's singing was not strong but what he lacked in power was more than made up for by the enthusiastic chorus from the crowd.

Ian ensured they were given all they could ask for with songs such as Little Girl Lost, Evangeline, Seven Horses and Starry Blue Eyed Wonder.
