Stone Sour @ Wolverhampton Civic Hall

IT'S not often that Corey Taylor finds himself lost for words.

But he could only look on in stunned admiration as the sell-out crowd threatened to raze the Civic to the ground.

The place was bouncing and the chant of "Cor-ey! Cor-ey! Cor-ey!" a recurring theme as Stone Sour made a triumphant and emotional return to the home of metal.

A fact not lost on Taylor who repaid the compliment: "You know, the American crowds could learn a lot from you guys." Cue another roar from the approving masses.

If and when Slipknot decide to hang up their boiler suits, Messrs Taylor and guitarist Jim Root - both members of the Iowan nine-piece - won't go hungry.

Once viewed by some as a side project, although Stone Sour were going long before Slipknot exploded onto the scene, the band stand proud in their own right.

They've got some cracking tunes too. The driving force of Blotter, Get Inside, Reborn and Made of Scars, complemented by the lighter-raising Bother and Through The Glass.
