Beverley Knight @ Wolverhampton Civic Hall

WAVING a Wolves scarf above her head, the soul singer joyfully burst on to stage screaming: "Wolverhampton, I'm home!".

And the appreciation by Beverley Knight's home crowd was reciprocated through nearly two hours of soul, old school R'n'B, and classic love songs which ended in a standing ovation.

Despite a tiny frame, this local girl has a big voice and proved she has to be one of the strongest British singers of her time as she boomed out tracks from her Greatest Hits album.

Opening with Made It Back, she emphatically pulled out all the stops for a gig Knight revealed she had been eagerly awaiting for a while.

Her family and friends were in the crowd to hear favourites Sister Sister, Shoulda Woulda Coulda, Take Another Little Piece Of My Heart and Greatest Day Of My Life.

A glowing Knight seemed like she didn't want the night to end as she appeared for Come As You Are in a Wolves shirt, and couldn't resist adding an impromptu acapella version of Robbie Williams' Angels.
