The Charlatans @ Carling Academy Birmingham

AFTER 16 years, some may think the Charlatans' time has been and gone, but another impressive performance in the city proved the band still has what it takes.

The Indie icons have been doing the rounds since the early 90s, giving us some memorable anthems, but have lost nothing along the way.

Tim Burgess showed he is still one of the greatest frontmen of recent years as he stood at the front of the stage effortlessly looking cool.

The Manchester-born boys hit the city for the third time this year as part of their national tour to coincide with the latest album Forever the Singles.

The Charlatans remain a cornerstone of the glory days of Indie music and gave fans a welcome trip down memory lane.

Tim's voice is still flawless but with a raw quality that encompasses what the Charlatans are all about- slightly rough around the edges but still brilliant.

North Country Boy, How High and The Only One I Know really got the crowd going.

With a Greatest Hits tour and album, there are rumours the band are to split. But the boys have gone on record saying they are here to stay - and thank heavens for that.
