Festive Favourites with Aled Jones, Birmingham Symphony Hall

ALED Jones is as associated with Christmas as mince pies and tinsel, so this concert was perfect for getting into the spirit of the season.

Charmer Jones led the audience through two hours of songs and orchestral delights, plus some witty Christmas readings on Saturday afternoon.

He even joked: "Just days to go until Christmas Day, I can't wait - it means I won't hear Walking In The Air for another 12 months."

The singer and presenter of Songs Of Praise was supported superbly by City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus and Youth Chorus, and children from Birmingham Young Voices.

There was also a touch of extra sparkle added as pupils from Junior Town School and City Road and George Dixon primary schools did a rendition from the front rows of the hall.

Silent Night, Sleigh Ride and a clever adaptation of the 12 days of Christmas were all there, and there was even time for a young member of the choir to pick up where Jones left off by singing Walking In The Air beautifully.
