Bullet For My Valentine, Civic Hall, Wolverhampton

THIS gig was the perfect showcase for just how strong the metal scene is today.

Three bands with three different styles, all given a rousing reception from a boisterous sell-out crowd.

Skindred got the party going with ragga-punk grooves, and Michigan's Still Remains proved metalcore is still relevant if the songs stand up to scrutiny.

Then there's Bullet For My Valentine, for whom world domination is surely just a stone's throw away.

Matt Tuck, his almost feline shape slinking across the stage, appeared to be over his vocal traumas and resembled the cat that got the cream.

Scream, Aim, Fire - the title track from the new album - got things off to a pulsating start from which there was no let-up.

Every song was greeted like a long lost friend with the huge Tears Don't Fall threatening to raze the Civic to the ground. It wasn't just the pyros that exploded on the stage as BFMV proved they are ready to become the next big noise.
