An Evening With Charlie Landsborough, Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham

IT WAS like spending an evening with an old friend as country star Charlie Landsborough delighted the audience with his dual skills as singer and storyteller.

Many of the songs were his own compositions, including titles from his recently-released album Under Blue Skies.

He talked with pride about his Merseyside roots and proved he can be just as funny as Liverpool comedians like his pal Ken Dodd.

The packed theatre was hushed as Charlie sat alone singing Isle of Innisfree, and there was resounding applause for What Colour Is The Wind, the song that set him on the road to stardom.
