Feeder, Barfly

FANS would normally have to elbow their way through thousands of other people at festivals or arenas like the NEC to get an up-close view of this band performing live.

But for a rare moment, Feeder went back a decade to when they were starting out in small clubs and gave an intimate gig for just 400 fans at Barfly, in Digbeth, on Sunday night.

In his own words, lead singer Grant Nicholas said this treat was mainly to air songs from the up-and-coming album, Silent Cry, but they also threw in some old favourites too.

Opening with anthems Feeling The Moment and Shatter, it put the crowd on an automatic high before they tested out the latest goods including We Are The People, Tracing Lines and Fires.

Older hits dotted here and there were the obvious crowd-pleasers, particularly the finale of Just A Day (All By Myself).

But the intimacy brought out some friendly banter between the band and fans through the one hour 20 minute gig, making it even more of a treat.
