Chaka Khan too shrill as she joins Lulu and Anastacia for Here Come The Girls at Symphony Hall

IT was a night of big voices and even bigger hair.
Lulu, Chaka Khan and Anastacia joined together to belt out songs in a girl power extravaganza.
The 80 per cent female audience lapped up rousing songs like I’m Every Woman, Respect and Single Ladies. Obviously in a Christmas party mood, they were on their feet and dancing from the off.
The girls started by singing together on Motown and disco medleys, but the concert worked best when they sang their own hits – highlights were Anastacia’s I’m Outta Love and Lulu’s classic Shout.
Personally, I found Chaka Khan’s piercing voice too shrill at times and painful to listen to when she hit the high notes.
And I don’t understand why they kept walking off stage, leaving sexy dancers to perform. It wasn’t as if they were changing outfits. With a combined age of 158, perhaps they needed a sit down.
VERDICT: HHHII
