Ian Brown review at the O2 Academy Birmingham
Dec 21 2009 by Ben Hurst, Birmingham Mail
FROM the opening bars of Love Like a Fountain, Ian Brown – the original singer with attitude – proved he still has what it takes to mesmerise an audience.
A more dedicated following would be hard to find.
Ian’s vocals are peppered with missed notes and there is a rasping harshness to his voice which even the most ardent of fans would be unable to explain the appeal.
The audience were there to see one of their idol’s in action and time has not dulled the lasting impression he has had on them.
The harmonica on Corpses in Their Mouths was superb but the biggest reception of the evening came as he launched into FEAR to finish the set.
The encores left everyone wanting more suggesting the new and old material were lapped up with equal enthusiasm.
Verdict: HHHII
