THIS shop’s sublime green theme is sympathetic to the lovely view overlooking the still-leafy St Philip’s Cathedral square on a sunny morning.
But you’ll have to time your visit just right in order to grab one of just four springy stools in the window.
Inspired by similar ventures in London, semi-pro rugby player Tom Jordan aims to supply you with fast, healthy food.
The range includes sandwiches, ready-made meals like the ‘Power Food Salad’ and ‘Crayfish Tails & Sweet Chilli Noodles’, plus ‘designer’ salads made to your taste at the counter.
There’s also various cooked breakfasts (organic scrambled egg on toast, £2) or dishes made using either normal, wholemeal or gluten free pasta (from £2.50 to £3.85).
Your speed in front of the counter depends more on the number of ditherers ahead of you.
I’d no sooner ordered my puttanesca pasta than it was in my hands, along with a tub of fresh soup and bread roll for my wife, Collette.
The penne tubes were piping hot and al dente, whilst the sauce – on a dish known in Italy as ‘whore’s pasta’ after being conceived from leftover ingredients like anchovies and olives – was average.
Made using berries from the deep freeze, my Pass ‘n’ Shoot included passion fruit, pineapple, mango and fresh orange juice whilst Collette’s equally good Berry Go Round was orange juice blended with strawberries, raspberries and blackberries (£2.50 each).
With a range of teas priced at £1.40 and coffees at £1.50 (espresso, 90p), Tom is clearly trying to do everything the correct way.
And, if his physique is an accurate guide, you too could perhaps have a Schwarzeneggeresque body like his eating food like this.
