NOT since the MAC closed in Cannon Hill in April last year have I enjoyed park chips.

What could be better on a lovely, sunny Spring day?

Parking on nearby Arboretum Road, I popped in to have a look at Walsall’s beautiful equivalent to Cannon Hill Park.

I wasn’t too optimistic that the chips would be anything to write home about.

But, instead of the expected fries, I received proper chip-shop style spuds.

Weighing 275g on my in-car scales, they were a touch expensive at £1.50.

But they would certainly have won a fourth star if only they’d been much hotter.
