THE Midcounties Co-operative has launched a balti cooking sauce made and bottled in the Black Country.

The Balti Towers sauce captures a popular dish at the restaurant in Blackheath of the same name. It was produced by owners Habib and Sadique Mohammed at the suggestion of ex-speedway world champion Jan O Pedersen. Jan was a regular visitor to Balti Towers when he rode for Cradley.

When he returned to Denmark, he missed the food so much that he asked for a way of making it available in his homeland. Habib and Sadique came up with the sauce and as well as exporting it, it has gone on sale at Midcounties stores.
