A History Of Violence (18)

DAVID Cronenberg is back on form with A History Of Violence, an unflinching portrait of small-town brutality.

Viggo Mortensen, Ed Harris and William Hurt star in an adaptation of John Wagner and Vince Lock's graphic novel by screenwriter Josh Olson.

It's a shocking cautionary tale as well as a riveting thriller about identity and the ghosts of the past.

Cronenberg doesn't let the tension slacken for an instant on the way to a nerve-racking finale.
