The Family Stone (PG)

THE Family Stone is a lot of hot air masquerading as a meet-the-folks comedy.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Dermot Mulroney, Diane Keaton, Craig T Nelson, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson and Claire Danes all collide in a festive story which doesn't quite live up to the collective promise of the talent involved.
It's a bit like The Royal Tenenbaums from four years ago only aimed more at the popcorn market.
The fun begins when Manhattan executive Everett Stone (Mulroney) takes uptight girlfriend Meredith (Parker) home to meet his parents Kelly (Nelson) and Sybil (Keaton). Alas! Everett's youngest sister Amy (McAdams) has already put the knife in!
The DVD extras include six deleted scenes, gag reel and casting session featurette.
