Tsotsi (15)

THIS year's Oscar-winning best foreign film is a harrowing tale of crime and criminality from South Africa's Soweto township.

The title of Tsotsi is drawn from a generic term for thug or gangster given to the lead character.

Tsotsi, a 19-year-old orphan convincingly played by newcomer Presley Chweneyagae, has no second thoughts for the consequences of his actions until he finds himself alone with a baby.

Kwaito music, South Africa's answer to hip hop, fits the film like a glove.

The DVD extras include deleted scenes and alternative endings.
