Waitress (12)

SET inside Joe's Diner, this is an old-fashioned treat - so beautifully crafted you simply have to care for the characters.

Writer-director Adrienne Shelly gamely plays the least attractive waitress, Dawn.

The more gorgeous Jenna (Keri Russell) can bake a mean pie with a catchy title, but she can't escape her brute of a man, Earl (Jeremy Sisto).

Falling pregnant is not the news Jenna wants to hear - but then she meets the dishy Dr Pomatter (Nathan Fillion).

Sadly, Shelly was murdered in Manhattan in 2006 by a 19-year-old construction worker following an argument about noise.

We'll never know how far this 30-year-old could have gone in an industry that's crying out for talent like hers.

Shelly was eight months pregnant when she wrote Waitress and her daughter, Sophie, is the little girl given a cameo at the end.

Also available to buy for £19.99.

Sleuth (15)

ADAPTED by Harold Pinter from Anthony Shaffer's original adaptation of his own play, Sleuth 2007 is a very illadvised remake by Kenneth Branagh. Contemplating the effect of losing his wife, author Andrew Wyke (now played by Caine stepping into Laurence Olivier's role) offers his younger love rival a dodgy diamond deal. Read
