Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street (18)

WHEN is mass murder by throat slitting politically acceptable?

When the blade is in the capable hands of Oscar-nominated Johnny Depp!

Tim Burton's grisly adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's 1979 Broadway musical is a chilling but curiously charming musical about a barber whose idea of a close shave is to slit your throat.

Depp plays the titular, revenge-seeking anti-hero alongside Helena Bonham Carter's conniving fellow tenant, Mrs Lovett.

While squeamish viewers will know to avoid this at all costs, even those who have braced themselves for the blood will be surprised by the way Depp ditches the bodies.

Also out to buy for £22.99/Blu-ray £26.99, with extras include a 'Recreating Fleet Street' featurette.
