Lars And The Real Girl (12)

THE independent film of the week was recently Oscar nominated for best original screenplay alongside the triumphant Juno.

Directed by Craig Gillespie, Lars And The Real Girl is a lovely story about the real meaning of relationships, tolerance and true love. Like Happy-Go-Lucky, Nancy Oliver's intelligent script offers another illustration of how, regardless of what others think, life is so much better when you feel comfortable inside your own skin. And, even if, like Lars (Ryan Reynolds), your latest girlfriend is... a doll.

Co-starring Patricia Clarkson and Emily Mortimer, you'll leave this film deeply moved whether you are a gregarious true romantic or a happy loner.
