The Waiting Room (15)

BY VIRTUE of its modern-day romance hinging on a chance meeting in a railway station waiting room, this film of heartfelt yearning will instantly echo memories of Brief Encounter for many.

Anna (Anne-Marie Duff) has a daughter from a failed marriage as well as an affair with her nextdoor- neighbour (who’s married to a friend) to think about.

Stephen (Ralf Little) has a girlfriend, but the carer for the elderly is not keen on going down the pressurised marriage and family route that even her parents want.

Having met in the waiting room at Wandsworth Common, but not exchanged names or contact details, both Anna and Stephen long to meet again in the same place.

Will their present lives get in the way, or can it really all come together.

In short... do daydreams come true, or is it wasteful to be wistful?
