Love + Hate (15)

ALTHOUGH this gritty film is set in an unnamed northern town, Blackburn looks very distinctive on screen.

Knowing every corner from my childhood there made me enjoy it as much as The Streets Of San Francisco; if only somebody could capture Birmingham's cityscape as well as director Dominic Savage shoots the terraces here.

There's little new in the 86-minute story about white boy Adam (Tom Hudson) falling for co-worker Naseema (Samina Awan).

But the film feels like an honest attempt to portray individual dilemmas.
