Paradise Now (15)

ALTHOUGH an uncompromising Palestinian story about suicide bombers, this was Oscar-nominated as best foreign film with the tagline 'From the most unexpected place, comes a bold new call for peace'.

Paradise Now studies the motives, actions and fears of the bombers themselves as two childhood friends prepare to launch a mission into Tel Aviv.

Neither overtly critical of their actions nor a 91-minute recruitment campaign for terror, director Hany Abu-Assad captures some human elements within a very inhuman situation.

Showing at the MAC and Warwick Arts Centre.
