SPINAL Tap star Christopher Guest has won plaudits recently for directing mockumentaries Best In Show and A Mighty Wind.

But this spin on being Oscar nominated is a rather lightweight spoof involving the shooting of a mid-40s American South drama.

It picks up a gear when some people are NOT nominated, but by then it's too little too late despite a fine performance by the director's regular 'Guest star', Catherine O'Hara (Marilyn Hack).

Ricky Gervais makes a forgettably-small cameo appearance, while many other roles are too brief to satisfy.

Having grossed just £3 million across the pond, For Your Consideration will be of limited interest even to die-hard members of the UK art house crowd.
