The Science of Sleep (15)

FROM Michael Gondry, the director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, comes another hugely distinctive movie.

Set in Paris, this is a surreal romantic comedy about a man who retreats into his private dream-world of childhood memories and cotton wool clouds.

Mainstream audiences might find it hard going, but it will certainly appeal highly to some who can identify with the theme.

Stephane Miroux (Gael Garcia Bernal) has always struggled to separate dreams from normality but being a 20-something illustrator has blurred the line further.

So how can he communicate with pretty neighbour Stephanie (Charlotte Gainsbourg) if he's trapped so deeply in his own world? The leads are attractive and the animation sequences are breathtaking.
