In The Hands Of God

DON'T ask me how, but this uneven documentary about five ball jugglers keen to meet Diego Maradona is somehow getting a wider release than recent movies like Waitress, Two Days in Paris and the excellent Hallam Foe.

The coming-of-age road movie starts off brilliantly with the boys all displaying such unbelievable skills even Cristiano Ronaldo would be drooling.

But, with their hang-ups and limitations making the film increasingly feel like Big Brother on Tour, you begin to realise that they are circus jugglers, not footballers.

In the end, I couldn't care whether they met Diego or not. I either wanted to see them prove their worth on a soccer pitch (impossible), or to just hear the final whistle.
