JOHN Farley (Seann William Scott) is devastated when his mother Beverly (Susan Sarandon) announces her engagement to Mr Woodcock (Billy Bob Thornton).
He's the gym teacher who made his life a misery at high school.
Unwilling to let his mother say 'I do' to a man who bullies and intimidates for pleasure, John schemes to break up the relationship.
The set up works quite well - especially for anyone with their own bad memories of school - but the film ends up making no sense.
