A ride on wild side

BOLLYWOOD brave-heart Akshay Kumar kicks into action this weekend - with the all-action film that's predicted to be his first blockbuster this year.

Tashan, released by Yash Raj Films at Vue Star City, has definitely been worth the wait.

Playing 'desi' wannabe gangster Bachchan Pandey in his own inimitable 'tashan' (meaning style), Akshay Kumar is seen in a diesel-fuelled road trip from Rajasthan to Haridwar.

Incorporating state-of-the-art special effects, Tashan has captivating action sequences performed by Akshay himself, marking the first in a series of high-octane action flicks lined up for 2008.

Talking about the release of 'Tashan', Akshay says: "I'm really excited about this film.

"It celebrates a return to the action genre for me and has given me the opportunity to showcase my physical and technical skills which, for me, are my art."

Yash Raj Film's Tashan, marks a new concept in Bollywood action filmmaking because audiences have seen nothing like this before.

It's also a film with universal appeal, not only for action enthusiasts, but for anyone who appreciates excellent quality Hindi cinema with a real edge.
