The Eye (15)

ANOTHER week, another remake of a Far Eastern horror - the twist this time being that co-directors David Moreau and Xavier Palud are French.

It's been adapted from the Hong Kong hit Gin Gwai and the tagline is now 'How can you believe your eyes when they're not yours' instead of 'What if the reflection you see is not yours?'.

Sin City, Fantastic Four and Awake star Jessica Alba plays violinist Sydney Wells.

Blind since the age of five, she begins to see things which others can't after undergoing corneal transplant surgery.

As well as there being too many ghosts in her apartment block, there's an inevitable mirror scene and the climax does not compare with Oxide and Danny Pang's 2002 original which has already spawned two sequels.

With too much time spent drawing out the relationship between Sydney and her donor, if you see this when tired you might end up with shuteye before the 96 minutes are up. Website: www.theeyefilm.co.uk
