The Oxford Murders

THERE were regrettably no previews of this 108-minute drama in which Elijah Wood plays a brilliant maths student who arrives in Oxford to study under John Hurt's professor of logic, Arthur Seldom.

But his life changes when elderly landlady Mrs Eagleton (Anna Massey) - who once helped to decipher the Enigma Code - dies in suspicious circumstances.

When Martin learns that Mrs Eagleton's death may be part of a series of bizarre murders linked by mathematical symbols, he joins forces with Professor Seldom to crack the code.

The landlady's musician daughter, Beth (Julie Cox) and local nurse Lorna (Leonor Watling) complicate Martin's calculations.
