Timber Falls

WHEN a horror film gratuitously begins in the way that most in the genre end, you know there's not much to aim for in the rest of the story. Especially when Mike (Josh Randall) and Sheryl (Brianna Brown) go for walkies towards the same falls in rural West Virginia.

Amid the trees there's three hunters you wouldn't trust with your last Rolo as well as religious fanatics Ida (Beth Broderick) and her husband Clyde (Nick Searcy).

Showing at various Showcases, the film tries to be different by offering insights into the definition of marriage and the perils of losing babies.

But this is nothing more than a stock, torture-thriller complete with an insulting, tagged-on ending.
