Summer lovin' in Birmingham

IT'S THE one that we want! Brummies who stay in town for the August Bank Holiday weekend can watch a free screening of Grease, outdoors in the Bullring.

The Summer Lovin' John Travolta hit will be shown on Sunday August 27, on a big screen erected close to St Martin's Church.

On a first come, first served basis up to 2,000 viewers will be able to see the film, with cushions provided to sit on.

A phone vote held by organisers Shloer closed last night with Grease the preferred choice ahead of Dirty Dancing.

Although the event is not licensed, families will be allowed to take their own wine to enjoy a picnic.

The showing is one of a string around the country.

Brand manager Kristina Everest said: "Each event will be truly sparkling and will be a great night out with friends on a summer's evening."
