Mars show is out of the world

IF you're looking for somewhere different to go this Easter, why not take your children to Mars?

The stunning new Disney documentary Roving Mars (U) is about a NASA mission to send two robots to Mars.

Watching the rocket blasting off on the giant IMAX screen with its amazing sound system is as close to being at Cape Canaveral as you can get.

Even though it's not in 3D, the rest of the 40-minute film is first class too, as a mixture of crystal-clear real footage and spot-the-join animation sequences take us on the journey of a lifetime to the Red Planet's extraordinary surface.

This is my favourite IMAX film yet - and one that's guaranteed to inspire any child showing an interest in science.

Jim Bell, associate professor in the Astronomy Dept of New York's Cornell University will be talking about his involvement in the Mars mission during a special Space Day on Saturday April 21. Details are at www.thinktank.ac.

The first blast-offs are at 11am and 6.45pm tomorrow and 1pm and 6.45pm on Sunday, followed by weekday screenings at 11am and 7pm. Prices: Adults £7, Child/Concessions £5, Family (2 adults & 2 children) £20.
